First Cross Country Run

One thing about Alejandro that has changed a little is he gets tired easier than he did before. Example being running the mile he used to get done faster than he does now and at first he would get frustrated within himself not understanding why. He came to me and said he wanted to run the mile and the 3k in the cross country meet. He and said he was talking to some friends and they had told him they didn't think he should participate because he gets tired easy. That made Alejandro want to participate even more. He wanted to set a personal goal, he didn't care what time he finished in he want to run both runs the entire time. He succeeded his goals!! He finished the mile is 8.42 and the 3k 20.20 I am beyond proud of him!! He is my hero and motivation. his strive and perserverance is something I've never seen! He doesn't let anything stop him as flag football season just ended he is starting basketball season. He said he will play sports till the day of his transplant!

49ers vs Saints game

I had seen an ad on Facebook for a local radio station to text to win tickets to a niners-cowboys game, I entered to win. They called to tell me I didn't win but had heard my son's story and how he is a huge niners fan and wanted to do something bigger and better for him. A few days later a lady from the 49ers community relations department contacted me and said Alejadro was selected in the champions program and they were sending him and his whole family to a game! We were so excited she said it was going to be a once and a lifetime experience and she wasn't lying! Alejandro said " it was the best day of his life!" We were suprised with on field passes once we arrived. We all got to be on field they whole pre game. Got autographs from Colin Kaepernick and Patton. He said he was less than 10 feet away from legend Drew Brees from the saints. His name came across the big screen!

It's that time of year

Unfortunately when the weather changes here comes the cold and flu season. Alejandro got the respitory bug going around. Little colds on him turn into worse things. He has a fever, bronchitis and the achey body. Resting, snuggles and chicken noodle soup are on today's menu hoping he kicks this bug fast. Thank for the kinds thoughts and prayers!!

Time for some flag football

Alejandro has his good days and his bad days. He doesn't let what he goes through stop him and tries to keep up with all his friends. He doesn't understand why some things are getting more difficult. He won't stop his sports. This is the first year in the last two years that he has played flag football as he can't play tackle. Part being because of me not wanting him to do more than one sport at a time it's a lot on him and the other being all his friends play pop Warner so it was getting "boring" to him as he is really competitive. This year a couple of his buddies are playing flag and he couldn't be happier! He wanted to play so bad, so here we are. He loves football and knows more about it than anybody I know. Since no contact sports are doctors orders flag it is and we couldn't be happier to see him on the feild! He amazes me! He is positive and so outgoing my super hero! And he says he is still playing basketball this year :)

Meet Alejandro

Alejandro was born into stage 4 kidney disease. It all began when I was 19 weeks pregnant we went in for our routine ultrasound. His kidneys were small and full with urine. They determined he had kidney reflux (where the urine was back flowing into his kidneys). We monitored his kidneys through ultra sound for the next 19 weeks and when he was born his kidneys were pretty much all scar tissue. Eventually the reflux had fixed itself but his kidneys were damaged and we had determined since the day he was born he would eventually have a transplant. Alejandro has been stable his whole life just a matter of when and the drs predicted pre puberty it will all began once his body would go through change that his kidneys wouldn't handle it. One thing that happens when you have bad kidneys is you don't grow. So we knew he would need to start a growth hormone once he stopped growing.
